SF Bay Area Gluten Free Cooking Classes for Parents and Children
Gluten Free parent/child cooking classes scheduled for 2008 through Apron Strings, a cooking school for kids in San Francisco. www.apronstringssf.com <http://www.apronstringssf.com/>. For five years Roberta Desbouillons, the founder of Apron Strings, and I have been talking about offering specialty classes so I’m really excited that, in 2008, the time has finally come!
In these classes the participants will learn basic cooking techniques and kitchen safety, learn about various ingredients, GF flour blends and alternatives used to create baked goods, learn ways to use mixes from Breads From Anna for making buns, pizza, pies, muffins, and much more! After we cook, we all sit down to enjoy our meal together. Recipe packets will be provided.
Price for each session is $65 per child, $70 per adult. I’ve listed some sample menus for each class although it may be adjusted in order to accommodate other food sensitivities.

A little about me:
Since 1998 I have been passionate about bringing kids into the kitchen to help them develop culinary skills and teach them ways they can work, either independently at home or with their parent, to create easy and satisfying, kid friendly, GF recipes. I’ve worked for Bauman College www.baumancollege.org <http://www.baumancollege.org/> since 1998 as one of their senior culinary instructors, having helped develop recipes and curriculum along the way and was instrumental in opening their Berkeley branch chef program in 2003.
In 2001 at culinary school I was fortunate to meet Anna Sobaski, founder of Breads From Anna , who created a pre-packaged mix that makes the best GF bread available today! Ever since, we have been good friends, collaborators, and colleagues who love to cook and are committed to bringing healthy and delicious food options to Celiacs of all ages.
